Under the personal supervision of Nina and Daniel, Ryvoan Cafe has been Aviemore’s much-loved neighbourhood deli-cafe since 2022. We are passionate about creating a warm, welcoming space where you can relax and indulge.
Our menus evolve with the seasons, celebrating the best local produce. Expect simple dishes prepared with finesse – from shareable charcuterie boards to daily specials – all perfectly matched with organic wines.
Alongside breakfast and lunch we serve our own cakes, Cairngorm Coffee and a range of loose-leaf teas, so there is something to satisfy every appetite at any time of day.
Forest-green walls pay homage to the pines of Glenmore and Abernethy, while vibrant paintings by Daniel’s sister, artist Ann Vastano, capture the spirit of the Cairngorms. Velvet banquettes, marble and wood tables, potted greenery and wooden floors give our loft-style space a touch of city sophistication in the heart of the Highlands.
Take a seat by the window for views of the Strathspey Railway and the Cairngorm Mountains – the perfect backdrop to good food, good company and a warm Highland welcome.
Our name, Ryvoan, is inspired by the picturesque bothy that sits on the track connecting the Queen’s Forest in Glenmore to Abernethy Forest. It’s been a haven for rest and tales for generations.Dating back to the 1800s, this charming bothy was once part of a larger croft dwelling. Today, managed by the Mountain Bothy Association, it serves as a cherished haven for weary travelers, offering shelter, camaraderie, camping provisions, and an opportunity to share fireside tales.
Whether you’ve spent the day adventuring in the hills, exploring the enchanting forests, or immersing yourself in the diverse activities of Aviemore and its surroundings our Ryvoan Cafe – or perhaps coffee bothy – welcomes you to replenish your energy and satiate your appetite in a tranquil setting.
Derived from the Gaelic term “Ruighe a’Bhothain,” meaning “Slope of the Bothy,” the name Ryvoan encapsulates the rich heritage and natural splendor that inspires our café.
Join us at Ryvoan Cafe, where we invite you to savor delightful flavors, embrace tranquility, and create cherished memories amid the wonders of the Scottish Highlands.
